The Opportunity

The Senior Vice President, Global Total Rewards will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Iron Mountain’s compensation and benefits around the globe. This position will be tasked with envisioning a Global Total Rewards program that meets the needs of our evolving organization during this period of hypergrowth and transformation.

Reporting to Iron Mountain’s Chief Human Resources Officer, the SVP, Global Total Rewards will be charged with setting the strategic direction, roadmap, and philosophy for compensation and benefits in order to ensure Iron Mountain is leading the competition in terms of our ability to attract, hire, retain, and incentivize top talent. In order to accomplish these objectives, this position oversees a team of four direct reports and a total staff of 35.

Leading the strategy that dictates how Iron Mountain invests in our people, the SVP, Global Total Rewards will partner with executive leadership, senior business leaders, hiring managers, HR Business partners, and our Talent Acquisition and Executive Search teams to design and establish competitive total rewards objectives and plans. Responsibilities will include designing and implementing company-wide comp and benefits programs, benchmarking, analyzing the talent compensation market, and assessing and amending the internal compensation structure. As such, the individual will act as a subject matter expert and thought leader on compensation, executive compensation, benefits, mobility and payroll, keeping abreast of the trends and best practices that dictate total rewards.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading total rewards for a large, complex, globally distributed organization preferably with experience leading an employee base comprised of both corporate and front-line employees. This individual will maintain the highest level of confidentiality and diplomacy.

Role & Responsibilities

Comprehensively develop, lead and execute upon a long-term Global Total Rewards strategy, designing competitive and compelling compensation and benefits programs aimed at attracting and retaining talent in a competitive environment while simultaneously maintaining internal equity.
Assess Iron Mountain’s current global total rewards program to identify opportunities to enhance our strategy and approach.
Oversight of all compensation programs, including the design, planning,implementation and communication of base cash compensation, variable compensation and equity programs at all levels, including executive compensation.
Manage and lead all aspects of global benefits. Review the company’s employee benefits offerings and recommend changes to the benefits programs to take advantage of tax efficient programs and, to ensure global competitiveness and cost effectiveness. Manage the effective communication of benefits to achieve employee awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the programs offered.
Develop plans to address challenges related to talent acquisition and retention in order to demonstrate Iron Mountain’s commitment to investing in our talent.
Continue to integrate, execute on, and evolve Iron Mountain’s recently launched job architecture with an eye towards internal job equity, appropriate leveling, and competitive compensation.
Own our equity pool and iterate on our future equity strategy.
Collaborate with HRBPs to understand and address the needs of internal stakeholders and client groups, providing direction and guidance on programs and offerings.
Evaluate our position in the compensation market and talent universe and share key metrics in order to drive improvements.
The Ideal Candidate Characteristics & Credentials

Track record of demonstrated success in a multibillion dollar, global organization that is fast paced and experiences heavy competition for scarce resources.
Proven comfort and ability leading and partnering cross-functionally with senior leadership, hiring managers, HRBPs, and talent acquisition.
Ability to assess current compensation modeling and provide strategic feedback regarding competitiveness of compensation and benefits offerings—especially in light of our growth and digital transformation—in order to better attract and retain top talent with highly sought after skill sets.
Experience providing thought leadership and guidance on a global level; demonstrated understanding of regional nuances and local implications regarding total rewards.
Knowledge of all federal, state, and local regulations across the globe. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations in each of Iron Mountain’s geographies.
A minimum of 15 years of total rewards experience with a demonstrated track record leading this function globally.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related discipline preferred.
