JOB DESCRIPTION
The VP of Sales & Marketing is responsible for setting the strategic vision for the sales and marketing function and provide leadership and support for the sales,marketing and revenue management team members within the Destinations business with a focus on achieving annual sales targets.
Success is driven through effectively developing new and existing marketing strategies, vendor and client relationships, and optimally enabling a team to build a sales pipeline through continuous prospecting for new customers to fill vacant inventory across diverse hospitality business segments: Conference Centers, Parks, Hotels, Tours, Weddings, Recreation and Adventure based activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Function as a Marketing subject matter expert and oversee creation, modification and implementation of ongoing sales & marketing plans, budgets and actions
- Monitor sales & marketing plan strategies and hold team accountable for results
- Track and Monitor ROI of promotional events, marketing spend, trade shows, and industry conferences
- Review sales team deployment and adjust as necessary to maximize revenue.
- Develop organization strategy and assist in hiring team members in revenue management, sales and marketing
- Lead the strategic process for documenting sales opportunities across the portfolio and leading operators and Directors of Sales through the process of setting annual sales targets and developing sales plans.
- Work with team to develop strategies utilizing various distribution channels and technology platforms to drive revenue
- Train and hold Directors of Sales accountable to developing a territory-specific sales and prospecting plan to meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales revenue targets including targeted market segments, rate management, solicitation procedures and advertising.
- Ensure the training on and use of Sales Software to track progress against sales targets.
- Be the Sales subject matter expert within the business pertaining to targeting diverse market segments (i.e. Corporate, Group, Social, leisure, etc.) and other sales opportunities.
- Utilize industry specific sales & marketing reports (STAR, TravelClick, etc.) to maximize Revpar growth year over year.
- Emphasize control procedures and yield management to assure a proper balance of rate availability to market demand.
- Completion of regular onsite visits to review strategies and implement Sales & Marketing SOP’s
- Participate in sales calls with team members and conduct sales training with sales managers and other onsite team members
- Communicates with Operational Leaders and Revenue Manager on rate strategies and group bookings
- Practice a culture of guest service in all you do; promote courtesy, good will and a positive attitude in each and every encounter.
- Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow leaders.
- Track and monitor results of sales bonus program
- Partner with internal compensation professionals to drive an effective and consistent compensation approach and strategy within the sales team.
- Present to prospective clients to win new business.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible sales & marketing professional leading to a VP level, hospitality sales & marketing experience preferred.
- 5-7 years of proven hotel/resort experience, demonstrating proven creative thinking and results-driven leadership skills, ideally with experience in a portfolio of unique destinations
- Knowledge of general sales techniques and strategies
- Strong presentation and communication skills with a consultative selling approach
- Ability to influence decision makers at all levels of an organization, from a CEO to a front office professional
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
- A valid driver’s license
- Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- High work ethic and self-initiative
- Up to 50% travel may be required.
- Must possess a basic computational ability.
- Ability to work well under pressure and balance multiple tasks at one time
- Ability to maintain excellent relationships with cross-functional leaders and line level staff and maintain confidentiality at all times.
