Summary:
The Manager of Financial Counseling directs and coordinates all daily operations within the Financial Counseling, Patient Financial Advocacy and the Hospital Cashier divisions within the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania (CPUP). The Manager oversees and is responsible for all aspects of the Revenue Cycle activities within these areas which have direct impact on the financial outcome of Penn Medicine’s Revenue Cycle Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Responsibilities:
Manages the daily operations of the Financial Counseling, Patient Financial Advocacy and Hospital Cashier divisions within the HUP/CPUP Revenue Cycle Department.
Develops, manages and tracks departmental processes and reports to ensure the Revenue Cycle’s KPI benchmarks are being met.
Drives standardization efforts in accordance with the organization’s mission.
Reviews departmental policies and procedures on a regular basis and makes updates as needed, focusing on continuous process improvement.
Manages staff; interviews, hires, assigns and directs work, appraises staff performance with rewards and discipline, addresses complaints and resolves issues that may arise, and acts as a mentor for department staff.
Assists in the development of the operational budget and manages within the budget; monitors and controls expenses in support of departmental’ s financial goals.
Assists in managing relationships with internal and external customers (i.e. vendors, hospital and practice departments, county assistance liaisons, etc.)
Assist the department in achieving and maintaining the Hospital’s Candidate for Billing (CFB) daily goal.
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
3+ years Revenue Cycle Setting. 5+ years Supervisory/Management Role preferred. AAHAM Revenue Cycle Certification preferred
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
10+ years Revenue Cycle Setting 5+ years Supervisory/Management Role preferred AAHAM Revenue Cycle Certification preferred
