Position Summary
The Assistant Director, Continuous Improvement plays a critical role in driving process improvement throughout the University and serves as a champion of a “Continuous Improvement” culture. Lead and support the various schools and units across the University in applying a structured methodology for process improvement activities. Serve as the Process Lead in Business and Application Transformational Projects. Recommend the best process and tools to determine root-cause problems, collect the pain points, facilitate the process improvement, and identity business/application opportunities. Identify, plan, and implement key projects to improve the quality, reduce costs, increase productivity and improve cycle time by reducing wasted time, rework, etc. resulting in significant business improvement and customer satisfaction. Complete process improvement projects within a specified time frame while achieving cost saving goals. Achieve buy-in from all decision makers and key stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of the process improvement. Provide management with project status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on key responsibilities and objectives.

Required Experience:
7+ years of experience and expertise in project management experience with Finance and SaaS implementation projects. Including complex projects involving multiple functional groups, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include relevant business process improvement experience at the analyst level or higher within process improvement. Experience with process design, requirements gathering, and facilitation. Demonstrated experience building metrics and dashboards for data driven decision making across the spectrum (process owners, executives, team members) and driving continuous improvement. Experience in process improvement consulting or process design within a service organization. Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.
Must be Six Sigma certified as a Black Belt, with a proven track record in process improvement. Specific experience in leading six sigma Improvement Initiatives is desired. The candidate will also have knowledge and experience of other methodologies and frameworks, such as agile or waterfall implementations.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to work independently (hands on role) and to work with others in the organization to succeed. Demonstrated skill at serving as a coach for senior leaders, and executives in helping them fulfill the role of process improvement sponsor, as well as coaching project managers on how to help identify opportunities for process improvement in their projects. Proven knowledge and application of process excellence, lean six sigma methodology, business analysis, reengineering, and process modeling and related tools and systems. Proven ability to scope, manage and deliver on projects and control costs. Excellent planning, analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal. Strong and professional written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of financial operations. Demonstrated ability to deliver sensitive information and collaborate with key leaders on finding solutions for key issues. Must demonstrate proficiency in developing relationships and creating close partnerships with senior management. Ability to influence change at the business owner level of the organization. Ability to develop a process improvement framework tailored for the organization.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $150,000.00 to USD $170,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
