The core Advertising team is charged with building a new, best in class ads organization to  establish Netflix as the premiere platform for advertiser partners, and to drive advertising revenue. Our Revenue team is currently looking for a Senior Ads Revenue Accountant to partner with multiple cross-functional teams to establish and scale multiple aspects of Netflix’s growing ads business, across the order management, invoicing, and cash collections processes. This individual will look to solve complex revenue recognition and operational issues with groups such as Sales Ops, Ad Ops, Sales, and Infrastructure Engineering.

You will be based in either Los Gatos, CA or New York City, NY, but will work cross-functionally across many time zones with our US and international offices.

 

In this role, you will:
Collaborate cross-functionally to design and build key facets of Netflix’s ads invoicing and billing systems, including creating policies, providing revenue recognition guidance, and owning accounting-related user testing for impacted systems/tools.
Oversee invoicing dispute process, including relevant systematic approvals, resolution options, and accounting impact.
Monitor cash outstanding and collected from customers, and ensure cash is applied systematically according to GAAP.
Aid in the creation of AR Aging and Reserve policies (if applicable), including technical memo preparation for topics such as bad debt and write-offs.
Provide revenue recognition guidance, including technical memo preparation (if applicable), for changes to client incentive offerings, new invoicing/billing methods, or new products/features that will have invoicing implications.
Partner with the Ad Ops and Sales Ops teams to define the 3rd party billing reconciliation and resolution process, with emphasis on adhering to a tight financial close process that is GAAP compliant.
Define upstream approval workflows and downstream revenue recognition impact for credit memos, make goods, ad credits, or other customer resolution events offered in the OMS.
Understand and analyze relevant ads revenue drivers and the impact on internally and externally reported business metrics.
Be responsible for the invoicing/billing impacting monthly revenue close process, which includes detailed analytics, monthly account reconciliations, and external audit deliverables.
Collaborate with our international finance and international tax teams to bridge US GAAP and Statutory/Local reporting requirements.
Drive ongoing operational process improvements along with Sales Ops, infrastructure engineering, Ads Ops, Ads Engineering, and Workday ERP teams.

Education and experience:
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
Prior experience working at an advertising technology, media company, and/or Ad Agency/HoldCo is greatly encouraged.
Proven project management experience and demonstrated ability to drive process improvements.
Experience with CRM and/or OMS.
Bonus experience – not required but are a plus!
Experience with Workday Financials or other cloud-based ERP systems.
Prior experience developing/implementing invoicing, billing, cash collection, or cash application workflows.

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $60,000-290,000.
