Hybrid at the NBA is defined as a role that is expected to be on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Position Summary:
This position provides financial analysis and support, financial process & reporting rigor, financial performance management, and direction to a path to achieve long-term goals focused on the following departments: Events, Direct-to-Consumer and Production.
Major Responsibility:
Support the development of the annual 3-year business plan & quarterly projection process, including staffing/human resource plans, capital expenditure forecasts, cash flow estimates, and new investment opportunity pitches
Partner closely with Controllers Group during month end close process to ensure P&L accuracy.
Jointly review internal production billings, prepaid balance sheet account, purchase orders and open invoices to determine monthly entries.
Prepare accruals and reclasses as needed.
Perform monthly and quarterly financial tracking, reporting and variance analysis. Identify areas of risk or opportunity.
Partner with Senior League Finance team members to communicate monthly results to Department Senior Management, NBA Finance/Accounting team, and supported business groups & sub-groups.
Provide finance support leading up to tentpole events (e.g., All Star).
Work with Financial Systems and Corporate Cards team to ensure backend coding set up properly for each event, assist Events team in coding and processing invoices, work with Event leads on preliminary settlements documents needed (with teams, promoter or venue).
Update projections leading up to each event and track spending against budget for key verticals within each tentpole event.
Perform ad-hoc analysis & modeling for Finance and supported groups as needed.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in FP&A, Accounting or related field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to effectively contribute in meetings with Finance and non-Finance attendees.
Detail oriented, organized and demonstrates curiosity regarding league & department operations.
Strong Excel & PowerPoint skills.
Education:
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business field. Sport, Media or Events experience is a plus.
Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
Knowledge of Adaptive Insights & OfficeConnect is a plus.
Salary Range:
$69,000 to $75,000 per year
