Position Summary

The Associate Business Intelligence Developer will design, develop and maintain business intelligence solutions to support the Oncology Service Line. This position will work closely with MaineHealth Oncology Leadership Council, MMC Oncology Service Line Council, MaineHealth/MMC work groups and Oncology Service Line Leadership to support dashboard and project request from around the organization.

With every request, the Business Intelligence Developer needs to ask: “What problem are they trying to solve?”, from there the team dives into the technical weeds to procure data to be used with solving that problem, as well reviewing data to identify key insights and ways the data can be used to solve problems.

This is an entry-level position in a three level career path in which the individual will work closely across business functions to investigate data, analyze user requirements, and provide solutions to present information through reports, data analysis and visualizations.  Must have the ability to understand the business questions and needs, then translate those business requirements into analytic solutions. They will collaborate with business analysts, architects and customers to provide high value technical solutions.

Delivering those solutions will be achieved by developing, enhancing or maintaining standard reports, data analysis, and data extracts. It is essential that the Associate Business Intelligence Developer build an understanding of MaineHealth customers at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management or specialized training/certification in business analytics (Or equivalent work experience)
License/Certifications: N/A
Experience: 0-2 years of business intelligence developer or related technical experience: 0-2 years of experience with a programming language (MS-SQL preferred); Must complete mandatory training requirements within 2-4 months of hire/start date; Healthcare experience preferred
Meet all training requirements outlined in the ‘Epic Environment and Support Security Standards’ in order to gain access to appropriate Epic environments.
Experience working with Business Intelligence software programs desirable (examples include: SAP BI Suite, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, IBM Cognos, QlikView, or QlikSense)
Demonstrated experience in producing technical documentation
Possesses a desire to learn about report distribution, build and testing strategies
Team Player
Problem-solving skills
Strong business acumen
Proven ability to utilize knowledge of computer systems and understand complex data structures to develop system solutions.
Demonstrated experience and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
