Deloitte Services LP includes internal support areas such as Finance and Administration, Talent, Information Technology, Marketing and Communications, and Facilities Management. This Tax Accountant role is part of our internal US Firms’ Taxes (“USFT”) team which is a subset of our Finance & Administration group. The USFT team is responsible for setting the tax policy for the US Firms in the US and other countries where it has operations. This team works both remotely and from business hubs in Hermitage TN, Houston TX, New York NY, and Boston MA.
The Team
This role is part of the USFT Indirect Tax compliance team. This is a small, high-performance team based in Hermitage TN, which is a suburb of Nashville. This position is involved in all stages of tax return preparation of Deloitte’s various indirect tax filings including sales/use, local business licenses, personal property tax, VAT, and US Withholding on Foreign Persons US Source Income returns.
Work You’ll Do
Analyze monthly accounting and financial information pertaining to indirect tax.
Review transactional data for accuracy and process any necessary adjusting journal entries related to indirect tax accruals.
Assist with the oversight involved to timely file and pay monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns for assigned jurisdictions.
Prepare check requests for returns and/or initiate EFT payments and corresponding journal entries on a timely basis.
Maintain tax calendar
Assist with managing the exemption certificate process.
Research taxability of non-routine purchases.
Respond to correspondence with taxing authorities for assigned jurisdictions.
Assist Manager with applying necessary changes to OneSource tax engine.
Assist Manager with required testing of OneSource tax engine related to ongoing system projects.
Assist Manager with inquiries from internal customers regarding indirect tax issues.
Prepare various analytical analysis to identify issues and propose corrective actions.
Assist with gathering requested documentation from SAP and other financial systems for indirect tax audits.
Assist in the maintenance of Deloitte U.S. Firms’ Taxes indirect tax files (i.e., documenting returns filed, mailing dates with certified receipts and all necessary supporting documentation).
Perform periodic tax jurisdiction account and general ledger account reconciliations.
Maintain technical skills pertinent to the position

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields.
Minimum 3+ years of General Ledger and multi-state indirect tax experience
Ability to prioritize and manage assignments based on their due dates
Experience with Microsoft Office, with strength in Excel
Experience with IRS Section 1441 Withholding, sales, use, and value added taxes, etc.,
Experience with SAP or other financial systems
Experience with sales and use tax software – OneSource preferred
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado or Nevada, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and the State of Nevada and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,200 to $121,800.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
